Bank auction vehicles are cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other motor vehicles that have been repossessed by banks and NBFCs due to loan default. These vehicles are typically auctioned at reserve prices that reflect their current market condition, often offering buyers an opportunity to acquire vehicles below standard used-vehicle prices.
Before participating, prospective buyers should verify the vehicle's RC book, insurance status, outstanding challan dues, and fitness certificate. A pre-auction inspection, where permitted by the bank, is strongly recommended. Winning bidders are responsible for completing the transfer of ownership as per RTO guidelines.
Verify the RC (Registration Certificate), insurance status, valid fitness certificate, pending challans, and any outstanding loan hypothecation on the vehicle. The bank's auction notice usually lists which documents are available for the lot.
Bank vehicle eauctions are generally open to any eligible individual or business bidder who completes KYC and pays the EMD — dealers do not get exclusive access, though they may bid alongside individuals.
Policies vary by bank; some clear dues before auction, others transfer that liability to the buyer. Always confirm challan and loan-clearance status with the bank's authorised officer before bidding.
Auction notices typically describe the vehicle's make, model, year, and general condition, but a physical inspection — where the bank permits one — is strongly recommended since vehicles are sold on an "as-is" basis.
